Bayern made a surprising exception

While most fans of Bayern Munich are interested in whether Arien Robben and Frank Ribery will remain in the club and next season, the leadership is showing sympathy for another of the runners-up. Defender Rafinha has received a proposal for a new 2-year contract and is now waiting for his answer.

“I’m not in a hurry for nowhere, I have time to think,” said the 32-year-old Brazilian.

The very fact that Rafinja has been offered such a contract is something new to the Allianz Arena. For many years in the club, players’ contracts of more than 30 years have been prolonged by up to 12 months. The South American has gained a solid job as a reserve that is always successful and at the same time no claims to play regularly. This seems to have made Uli Hönes and Karl-Heinz Rummenge an exception.

For long-term survival, both Robben and Ribery insist. They are 34 years old, but their fate will only be decided by the end of the season.
