De Bruyne: I deserve the prize, we can not compare to Salah
Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who is considered one of the main favorites for the season’s season award, believes he deserves the prize because of the constantly high level he maintains throughout the season. The other major contender for the award is Liverpool’s top scorer Mohamed Salah. The two of them go out against each other tomorrow at Anfield in the 1/4-final clash of the Champions League. According to the Belgian, a comparison between them can hardly be done because of their different terrain functions.
“If I receive the prize, it will be good for both the team and me, I think I deserve it, because I am very constant in its shape, I am very happy with it and am very pleased with the way I play. I was expecting to be so good this season, I think there was no match in which my standard was low, I am pleased to be able to maintain that level in so many games and so many minutes I played.
We can not be compared to Salah, it is impossible. How then can other players make their choice? Everybody has an opinion. It depends on what everyone is looking for in a footballer. Salah is in incredible gol form and always plays well. This season is incredible. But how can we be compared? Our roles are completely different. Against Everton I played as a defensive midfielder, so how can I be compared to a lightweight striker? I have no idea. He is extraordinary and his statistics speak for himself, so I do not have to do it, “said De Bruyne.
