Francesco: Roma showed two faces
Roma coach Eusebio di Francesco stayed disappointed after losing 1: 2 by Shakhtar Donetsk during the visit to Kharkov in the first round of the Champions League. Roma led, but allowed a reversal, and the extraordinary interventions of the Wolves’ goalie Alison prevented a hefty loss.
“Roma showed two faces. In the first half we created problems for the rival, and in the second we only defended. I have no explanation for why. We have allowed a goal from nowhere. We have experienced players who have made childish mistakes. My team suffers from a lack of ability to keep pace and show good results in difficult situations.
Today we lost concentration after 1: 1. I do not blame anyone specifically. Shakhtar is a wonderful team and in the rematch we have to show the game in the first half and not to allow the mistakes of the last 40 minutes. At half time, I told players to continue in the same spirit, but it seemed to me that they were happy with the minimum advance. This was also our big mistake, and the lack of enough aggression in the attack, “said Francesco.
