Montpellier hosts Olympique Lyonnais

Montpellier hosts Olympique Lyonnais in a game from the third round of the French Ligue 1. We are going to offer you our football forecast for this clash at the Stade de la Mosson in Montpellier.

Montpellier won just one point from their first two games in the Ligue 1 for the new season. In the first round Michel Der Zakarian’s boys suffered a 0-1 defeat at home against Rennes, while in the second round Montpellier visited Bordeaux and won a point after a 1-1 draw. Andy Delort opened the score for the visitors, but Josh Maja equalised for the hosts.

Clearly it was not the best possible way for Montpellier to start the new season, but it’s just the beginning of the campaign, so no reason to worry.

Olympique Lyonnais on the other hand started their league campaign much better. The club’s new manager Sylvinho is doing a good job so far. In the first round Les Gones achieved a confident 3-0 win over Monaco at the Stade Louis II, while in the second round Lyonnais enjoyed a terrific 6-0 win at home over Angers SCO. Memphis Depay and Moussa Dembele scored braces for the hosts, while Houssem Aouar and Jean Lucas also scored for Les Gones.

Six points from two games played, nine goals scored and no goals conceded – clearly Sylvinho could’ve not dreamed about a better start of his career as a manager of Olympique Lyonnais. If the young Brazilian manager build such a consistency in his team’s performance, then Les Gones could even challenge for the title.

That’s our football forecast for the Ligue 1 fixture between Montpellier and Olympique Lyonnais on Tuesday. Based on their performance in the first two rounds, Lyonnais are the clear favourite here. They are playing really good since the start of the campaign.
